Rockulus Maximus is a Rock Show that is broadcast locally on a
community radio station located right at the North tip of the UK
mainland. The content covers a wide basis that passes as Rock music in
this day and age, ranging from AOR and Melodic Rock in general, right
through to various forms of Death Metal and Grindcore.
Exploring the Universe of Rock is a lot of
fun and produces some really delightful surprises from time to time, and
as the listener is taken on this ride during the one hour and fifty
three minutes they experience the content getting more and more brutal.
Light and fluffy to start with, and dark and ferocious by the end.
There are three features incorporated
throughout the proceedings. "Sonic Shake" takes us back in time to the
Sixties or the Seventies as we get a slice of classic Rock pie. Bands
like Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Free and many more get a
right old dusting down, and it acts as a great reminder to what
wonderful sounds were being composed back in the day.
Halfway through the show "Reinventing The
Wheel" offers up the concept of the cover version. This can either be
pain or pleasure depending on your perspective.
Thirdly, "Flowers on a Razor Wire" is our dark and miserable
moment on the show. Shoe-gazing is totally allowed. A chance to either
check out the old school Goth' of Bauhaus, Siouxsie & The Banshees
or Gene Loves Jezebel, to more recent additions to the Gothic Rock canon
like Marilyn Manson, Nightwish, H.I.M. and many, many others.
Since starting this humble Rock Show back in September, 2011, things have evolved.
This
website for example was intended as a companion and extension of the
show, but has now grown into more of a webzine with many contributions
being added to our "Q&A" section. Some of you may have noticed the
"Reviews" section has been updated to include reviews that were
conducted for L.A. based Rock Magazine "Screamer", which has rebooted
itself as an online magazine these days and is growing all the time.
Rockulus Maximus can be found on Twitter
and on Facebook, plus we have a quieter presence on ReverbNation and
MySpace. For some reason though, we're more active on Twitter and
Facebook if you feel inclined to get in touch or to check out
developments.
Many thanks for your time, and keep on Rockin'!
